Iron & Steel & Metallurgy Industry

Blast furnace gas pipelines, cooling water systems, and slag treatment pipelines in steel mills have harsh working conditions and limited space around equipment. Koreyda’s double offset butterfly valves, with tungsten carbide-sprayed discs (HRC70 hardness), resist wear from particulate media, while the compact design fits into dense pipeline clusters. They effectively control gas flow and cooling water circulation, reducing maintenance frequency in high-dust and high-temperature environments.

Double Offset Structural Design Principle

The core advantage of the valve lies in its innovative double offset design: the stem axis deviates from both the centerline of the valve seat and the center of the disc. This unique structure achieves two key effects in metallurgical applications:

Minimized Seal Wear: When the valve is opened, the disc can quickly disengage from the valve seat within a rotation angle of 8°-12°, avoiding continuous friction between the seal surfaces during the opening and closing process. Compared with ordinary butterfly valves, the friction is reduced by 70%, which significantly alleviates the erosion of high-temperature and high-dust media on the seal pair.

Reliable Sealing Performance: The double offset design forms a wide annular sealing zone between the disc and the seat, realizing surface contact sealing. Even under high-temperature thermal expansion, the seal pair can maintain good fit, avoiding internal leakage caused by material deformation. The optimized structure also eliminates jamming during operation, ensuring smooth on-off even after long-term standby.

Key Performance Parameters

Koreyda's double offset butterfly valves for metallurgy are designed to meet the industry's strict operational requirements, with core parameters as follows:

Nominal Diameter: DN50 - DN1200 (2″ - 48″), supporting large-diameter pipeline systems in blast furnaces and dust removal equipment

Pressure Rating: PN10 - PN64, Class 150 - 600, adapting to pressure fluctuations in coal gas and air pipelines

Operating Temperature: -29°C - 500°C, covering the temperature range of high-temperature flue gas, hot air, and coal gas media

Leakage Class: Class VI (bubble-tight), minimizing energy loss and safety risks caused by medium leakage

Actuation Torque: 70% lower than single-offset butterfly valves; DN600 electric valve torque ≤ 350 N·m, reducing energy consumption by 25%

Actuation Mode: Manual, worm gear, pneumatic, electric; pneumatic/electric actuation supports remote control, matching the automated production needs of metallurgical plants

Typical Applications in Metallurgical Processes

The valve is widely used in key links of iron and steel production, playing a critical role in fluid control and system protection:

Blast Furnace System: Used as a shut-off valve for combustion air, coal gas, and flue gas at the inlet and outlet of heat exchangers. The high-temperature resistant seal and low-torque design ensure stable operation in the preheating and dry dust removal systems of blast furnaces.

Converter Steelmaking System: Applied in oxygen and coal injection pipelines, with wear-resistant disc and reliable sealing to prevent medium leakage and ensure the safety of smelting processes.

Continuous Casting & Rolling System: Used in cooling water and heating gas pipelines, adapting to frequent on-off operations and maintaining stable flow regulation accuracy.

Flue Gas Treatment System: Suitable for desulfurization and denitrification pipelines, with corrosion-resistant material configuration to resist the erosion of acidic flue gas and extend service life to over 3 years (compared with 3 months for traditional valves).

Core Advantages for Metallurgical Industry

Compared with conventional valves, Koreyda's double offset butterfly valve has obvious competitive advantages in metallurgical applications:

Long Service Life: Multi-layer composite seal and hard alloy overlay welding technology effectively resist high-temperature erosion and wear, reducing maintenance frequency and downtime.

High Safety: Metal hard seal structure avoids seal failure caused by high-temperature aging; bubble-tight sealing prevents toxic and flammable media (such as coal gas) from leaking.

Easy Maintenance: The seal pair is designed on the valve body, and the disc with hard alloy overlay welding is not easy to wear, reducing the difficulty and cost of maintenance.

Standard Compliance: Complies with API 609, EN 593, and GB/T 12238 international standards, ensuring interchangeability and compatibility with global metallurgical equipment.
